Fire Destroys Home in Collegeville

Around 7:30pm, callers flooded the 911 Center, describing the back of a house on fire on 9th Avenue in Collegeville.  Fire units from Collegeville, Perkiomen, and Lower Providence fire companies braved the winter-like elements to respond to the fire.  Smoke could be seen all the way down the street.  Engines were requested from Mont Clare and Royersford to assist.  Engine 98 (Royersford) established a secondary water supply at 9th Avenue and College Avenue.  The house was a total loss, but the homeowners escaped safely.
