Drafting from the Schuylkill River
On Monday, June 21st, the Royersford Fire Department conducted a training session on drafting from the Schuylkill River off of First Avenue in Royersford. Drafting will sometimes be implemented when a fire is located near a river, creek or pond, especially when there are no hydrants nearby.
 The hard-suction hose is lowered into the river.
Securing the hose and deck gun to the ladder.
Quint 85 pumps water from the Schuylkill and sends it back with the ladder pipe.
Water rains down as a boat passes by.

The handle allows the deck gun operator to move the stream up and down.
